Job Description 

Overall Responsibilities

  •  Cover the Artistic Director/Conductor for all rehearsals (Sundays from 4-6pm) when necessary and be ready to cover performances (if necessary)

  •  Assist with vocal placements for new and returning singers

  •  Lead warm-up exercises (at conductors' request) and sectional rehearsals

  •  Assist with operational aspects of the chorus (music distribution, creating seating charts, and maintaining attendance records)

  •  Assist with recruitment of new singers for the chorus

  •  Provide feedback to the Artistic Director/Conductor and guidance to singers as needed

Other contributions to the Artistic Team, including:

  •  Attend staff meeting (3rd Thursday of each month)

  •  Assist artistic director with other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  •  Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or an undergraduate degree in a relevant area of Music. A combination of education and/or comparable work experience (4 - 6 years) will be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

  •  Experience in conducting choirs or directing musical theater productions.

  •  Knowledge of sensitivity to the LGBTQIA community, choral movement and the musical/artistic community

Preferred Skills

  •  Piano; ability to warm up a chorus and play from an octavo

  •  Demonstrated programming that shows collaboration with diverse partners

  •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
