Job Description
Overall Responsibilities
Cover the Artistic Director/Conductor for all rehearsals (Sundays from 4-6pm) when necessary and be ready to cover performances (if necessary)
Assist with vocal placements for new and returning singers
Lead warm-up exercises (at conductors' request) and sectional rehearsals
Assist with operational aspects of the chorus (music distribution, creating seating charts, and maintaining attendance records)
Assist with recruitment of new singers for the chorus
Provide feedback to the Artistic Director/Conductor and guidance to singers as needed
Other contributions to the Artistic Team, including:
Attend staff meeting (3rd Thursday of each month)
Assist artistic director with other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education or an undergraduate degree in a relevant area of Music. A combination of education and/or comparable work experience (4 - 6 years) will be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
Experience in conducting choirs or directing musical theater productions.
Knowledge of sensitivity to the LGBTQIA community, choral movement and the musical/artistic community
Preferred Skills
Piano; ability to warm up a chorus and play from an octavo
Demonstrated programming that shows collaboration with diverse partners
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
